Working Groups Overview
Six working groups will convene during ITiCSE 2007.
These working groups will consist of five to ten people who share a common interest in one of the six
areas described below.
Working group members, under the direction of their group leader(s),
will work intensively for the three months prior to the conference date.
Working groups will the meet at the conference site beginning two days before the conference and continue
throughout the conference.
Each working group will determine its own meeting schedule.
The importance of making effective use of this time cannot be overstated.
The intention of the working group experience is NOT to produce a meaningful report in five days.
The goal is for working groups to work intensively - in a distributed though collaborative fashion -
for three months prior to meeting in person in Dundee. T
he final five days spent at the conference site is meant to be the conclusion of this process.
All working group members are expected to arrive at the conference site three days
prior to the conference (Friday June 22nd).
For five days, June 23-27, each working groups is expected to work in a collaborative fashion to conclude
both their research and report writing.
The final three days of this period overlap with the conference.
Working group members should feel free to attend talks and other conference activities,
although should be prepared to spend most of their time on working group activities.
All working group members are expected to stay at the conference site until the end of the conference to
fulfil their responsibilities to their working group.
Intermediate working group results will be presented to conference attendees at a dedicated conference session.
By the end of the conference each working group will have produced a robust draft of a report.
Within four weeks the groups will submit a polished version of the report, which will be reviewed, possibly revised,
and edited under the supervision of the working group coordinator.
Suitable reports will be published in a SIGCSE Bulletin and become part of the ACM Digital Library.
For the first time this year we have a working group that is solely for postgraduate students.
The group will run along the same lines as the other groups: application will be by the same procedure;
work will commence three months prior to the conference; a draft report will be expected at the end of the conference;
if the final report is accepted by reviewers it will be published in the SIGCSE Bulletin along with other accepted reports.
