Working Groups

Working groups are groups of 5-10 people with a common interest related to the conference theme. Working groups will meet to work before & during the conference. Working group proposals, are invited from potential leader. They will be evaluated on the level of perceived interest in the suggested topic and the leader(s) qualifications.
Accepted working groups will be open for membership as advertised on the Important Dates page.
Abstracts of accepted working groups will be published in the conference proceedings. Each working group will present their interim results to the conference attendees, and after the conference submit a final report. The final reports will be reviewed and, if accepted, published in the SIGCSE Bulletin and the ACM digital library. A condition of this publication is an author signed ACM copyright release form.

The official language of the conference is English. Submissions should use clear, ordinary grammar and avoid the use of colloquialisms that might be difficult for those who speak English as a second language.

How to prepare your working group proposal

Proposals are limited to a maximum of 2 pages and must adhere to the ITiCSE 2007 Format Instructions.

How to categorize your submission

Note that there are several ways you must categorize your submission.
Within the proposal itself, you must provide Category and Subject Descriptors, General Terms, and Keywords. These requirements are described in more detail in the ITiCSE 2007 Format Instructions.
When you submit your proposal you also must categorize it for our database. The categories you choose are used to select the reviewers who will evaluate your proposal. Please be sure to choose only the one or two categories that best fit your work. Selecting too many categories increases the likelihood that your submission will be given to a reviewer who is unfamiliar with the content.

How to submit your working group proposal

All submissions must be made electronically using the link below, which requires Netscape or Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher.

  1. Write your proposal using the format specified above.
  2. Convert your proposal into ADOBE PDF format. Refer to our Preparing PDF Documents page for assistance.
  3. Submit your proposal using the online Submission Form. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit because that is when everyone else will be connecting to our server!
  4. Make note of the ID number and password assigned to your submission. You will receive an e-mail message confirmation.
  5. After receiving confirmation, go to the Author Verification Form to review your submission for accuracy. Contact the working group coordinators (contact details below) if there are any problems.
Warning! Several authors have reported problems viewing their PDF files using Internet Explorer. If you experience similar problems, it is best to download the file and use Acrobat Reader directly.
