Panels

Panel sessions provide a forum for the exploration of a hot topic among expert panel members and between the panel and the audience. Please consider submitting a panel which fits into one of the submission categories.

The panel organizer must select appropriate panelists who agree to participate, obtain position statements from these panelists, and integrate the statements into the abstract before submitting the panel proposal.

After reviewing, accepted panels must be presented at the conference by the panelists. Abstracts of accepted panels will be published in the conference proceedings. A condition of this publication is an author signed ACM copyright release form.

The official language of the conference is English. Submissions should use clear, ordinary grammar and avoid the use of colloquialisms that might be difficult for those who speak English as a second language.

How to prepare your panel proposal

Panel proposals are limited to a maximum of 2 pages and must adhere to the ITiCSE 2007 Format Instructions.

How to categorize your panel

Note that there are several ways you must categorize your panel submission.
Within the proposal itself, you must provide Category and Subject Descriptors, General Terms, and Keywords. These requirements are described in more detail in the ITiCSE 2007 Format Instructions.
When you submit your panel proposal you also must categorize it for our database. The categories you choose are used to select the reviewers who will evaluate your proposal. Please be sure to choose only the one or two categories that best fit your work. Selecting too many categories increases the likelihood that your submission will be given to a reviewer who is unfamiliar with the content.

How to submit your panel proposal

All submissions must be made electronically using the link below, which requires Netscape or Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher.

  1. Write your proposal using the format specified above.
  2. Convert your proposal into ADOBE PDF format. Refer to our Preparing PDF Documents page for assistance.
  3. Submit your proposal using the online Submission Form. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit because that is when everyone else will be connecting to our server!
  4. Make note of the ID number and password assigned to your submission. You will receive an e-mail message confirmation.
  5. After receiving confirmation, go to the Author Verification Form to review your submission for accuracy. Contact the panels coordinators (contact details below) if there are any problems.
Warning! Several authors have reported problems viewing their PDF files using Internet Explorer. If you experience similar problems, it is best to download the file and use Acrobat Reader directly.
